With Xbox Game Pass a few years ago (specifically since 2017), and its fame exploding in the last few years, Sony has had to take its first steps, and it seems to be preparing Spartacus to face the imminent threat of Microsoft's service that threatens Sony's entire throne; Here's the Sony preparing a suitable response to its service on PlayStation 5.
Unfortunately, Sony has not yet officially announced Spartacus, but it has not denied it either. The rumors are strong and logical, most recently published by the British newspaper The Sun, and we seem to be just waiting for the announcement. In this article we will review everything we know about the service so far, and how it can compete with Microsoft's dominant service on the scene.
What exactly is Spartacus?
Like paid gaming services, Spartacus is supposed to be Sony's next paid service that will challenge Microsoft's current dominant service, xbox Game Pass, of course. Spartacus will reportedly only come on new generation devices, but Sony may surprise us by making the service available on PlayStation 4.
Spartacus is supposed to bring in the well-known subscription systems currently in the service such as PlayStation Plus; the monthly, quarterly and annual system will carry with it a large library of games and most importantly they are valuable games, not like what we see on the playstation plus service, this is the point of difference that makes users turn to game bass instead of sony paid service.
What will distinguish Spartacus?
Unlike Microsoft, what distinguishes PlayStation and Sony is their powerful exclusiveness that undoubtedly outperforms its Xbox counterpart. Personally, I think the war of acquisitions between the two companies right now can be called an exclusive war. Every company tries to buy other studios featured in their games, and every company tells us that the company's games or the studio that has been acquired will become multi-platform and will not monopolize, but we are ultimately surprised by the privatization of games.
You think my allegations are speculation, so let me give you examples, my friend. When Microsoft acquired ZeniMax Media, which includes Bethesda Studio under its banner, the last studio came out with its statements and said it would remain independent and spread its games on all platforms to reach as many players as possible, but only a year later we discovered that the upcoming powerful studio games such as Starfield, The Elder Scrolls 6 and Redfall would become Xbox exclusives!
My friend, excuse me for addressing that point, but it is important to understand the whole scene. Going back to Spartacus and thinking about what Sony can take advantage of, we'll see that it has a vast library of the best exclusives you can add to the service like God of War, Uncharted, The Last of Us, and other exclusives, and can even make exclusives and games that come in general from first-day games on the service; Gym bass.
Another feature Spartacus can offer is the running feature of previous generational games or Backward Compatibility as players know it, a powerful feature that Sony lacks and Microsoft is well superior to. In order not to be unfair to Sony, the PlayStation 5 can play some previous generational games specifically for PlayStation 4, such as Afro Samurai 2 and TT Isle of Man - Ride on the Edge 2, but it is very limited in this feature and Sony should focus on that point.
Uhhh. Not to panic anyone, but a PS3 game shouldn't have a price when viewed on a PS5.

It is also worth mentioning that in mid-January, we saw some playstation 3 titles on the PlayStation 5 store such as Dead Or Alive 5, which instilled some hope in the hearts of the players, but they soon discovered that they could not download or even buy those games, and Sony is still discreet about this, perhaps shopping for that advantage on Spartacus service only indirectly, and perhaps a technical error like a lot of mistakes.
Spartacus subscription price
Based on the strong hypothesis that the main goal of the service is to compete with Xbox Game Pass, Spartacus is set to cost about $15 per month (e.g. Xbox) or $20 per month, taking into account how many exclusives we've talked about and some other features.
For example, the annual PlayStation Plus subscription costs about $60 per year and $10 per month, which makes sense of the price we mentioned, and for annual or quarterly systems it may be about $70 and $40, respectively, no one knows yet!
When will Sony announce Spartacus?
Highlighting Microsoft and its untenable services, I think we'll officially hear about Spartacus in the next few months, especially after Sony started moving it through the acquisition of Bungie (the original developer of Halo), and Jeff Kelly (founder of The Game Awards) confirmed that there are a lot of deals and acquisitions coming on the way and in the final stages, adding that 2022 will be exciting.
There are also a lot of rumors and newspapers, led by The Sun, also predict the date of the announcement, and by the way the service may not even bear the name Spartacus, there are leaks that the service will be called PlayStation Infinite, but what is important for us now is to see it.
In the end, we hope to see Sony's next service, whatever its name, as soon as possible, and see the clean conflict between the two companies rage and force each company to develop its games that raise the value of games and industry first, attract players and restore the hope of those who despair of games second.
