Horror games have evolved dramatically over the past two decades to where they are now, and the real beginning of horror games in their current form has been since the release of the rich game Resident Evil in 1996, which was the flame that fuelled horror games with the emergence of Silent Hill, which has achieved great successes for several years. How did that series appear and why did it disappear?
Silent Hill's creativity with developer Team Silent:-
Konami wanted to offer something different with its successful gaming series, so it relied on Western developers from Europe and the United States.
In an interview with Kenzie Lamar, Artistic Director of homecoming part
Konami released two side parts: Silent Hill: Experience for PSP, and Silent Hill: Arcade in April and July 2006, respectively.
A paradigm shift with western developer Climax:-
This is where Western developers began developing Silent Hill games instead of Oriental developers, while Climax Los Angeles branch developed Silent Hill: Origins for the PSP platform, Climax wanted to make a version of the PS3 platform, the new project was converted to Silent Hill: Broken Convenant, but Konami refused and the project did not see the light of day. Silent Hill: Origins was finally introduced to the PSP platform in 2007, followed by a version of the PS2 platform in 2008, the first game in the series to be developed outside Japan and was known there as Silent Hill: Zero.
Followed by a new part in the series of double Helix Games development this time is Silent Hill: Homecoming, as his name shows. The story revolves around Alex Shepherd, who returned from a war abroad, discovers his father's disappearance, his younger brother's whereabouts, his mother's muscular sclerosis, and decides to look for his brother. The game was released in 2008 for Xbox 360, PS3 and Windows in 2009.
Silent Hill is back to complete the first part with some additions, and was released as Silent Hill: Shattered Memories for wii platform in 2009 and PSP/PS2 in 2010. So how did the first part be completed and what are the plugins? The first part is complemented by Mason's character looking for his daughter, with new characters alongside the old one, the story is presented with two perspectives: the first is a Framing perspective that includes a psychiatric session for an invisible patient, and the second with an Over The Shoulder perspective that includes the hero's journey of the story interspersed with monster chases.
Release craze infects Konami:-
If I was in 2012 I would never have expected that year to be the beginning of the end of the series, due to konami's release craze, I only launched 3 versions that year! Silent Hill: Downpour, developed by Vatra Games for the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms, was released and for those who do not know, the company was created after Konami asked developers for silent Hill, a developer who worked for 2K Czech. The story of the game revolves around a prisoner who was stranded in the city after the accident involving a prisoner transport vehicle. The world of the game has become so large that it has approached open world games and provided optional tasks.
If you think Konami will wait a few months before a new launch, you're wrong, releasing the HD Collection version in the same month, which includes the first and second parts with improved resolution and some additions to the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms. The version angered fans of the series because of technical flaws and problems that spoil the experience, and the new additions were not in tune with the old content. The second part was a technical disaster by all accounts where some parts were observed to be incomplete!
Konami lost the source code for the first and second parts, forcing the development team to use incomplete copies of these two parts.
Head of Co-Producers Tomm Hullet
October 2012 Silent Hill: Book of Memories was released from wayForward Technologies' development of the PS Vita platform. The story changed while retaining some monsters from previous parts, collaborative multiplayer mode was added for the first time in the series, and the game environment became connected cells.
The unfortunate developer Koujima Production:-
Konami posted experimental content for an upcoming part of the series under the name P.T. and was put on the PS Store for the PS4 platform, and the arrival of the new part was later confirmed as Silent Hills, developed by Kojima Productions with Fox Engine in collaboration with the producer and director Guillermo Del Toro, and the participation of actor Norman Reedus and a dispute between Konami and Kojima Productions that led to the latter not participating in the completion of the development of the game in spring 2015, after which the producer and director announced his exit from The project and then the actor. Konami announced that it would complete the development of the game, and several days later announced the cancellation of the game development and that it is ready to complete work with its male former partners. The content was deleted from the PS Store some time later, and fans of the series tried to neutralize Konami from its decision, but their attempts failed.
That's how the hit series emerged and disappeared, a series that influenced the horror game industry and its maturity as we see it now. That series that haunted us in our childhood, and made Konami attached to our minds, and we really hope to see a new part as rumors suggest, here I conjure up the saying:
In My Restless Dreams, I See That Town… Silent Hill. You Promised You’d Take Me There Again Some Day… But You Never Did. Well, I’m Alone There Now, In Our Special Place… Waiting For You
Vincent – Silent Hill 3
