With the upcoming release of the highly anticipated The Matrix Resurrections, a special linking experience has also been created for the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, or PS5 console, The Matrix Awakens.
However, if you hope The Matrix Awakens will be a complete video game, you'll be disappointed, since it's basically a promotion for The Matrix Resurrections and another technical offer for Unreal Engine 5.

A new trailer for The Matrix Resurrections, as well as The Matrix Awakens, was unveiled by heroes Keanu Reeves and Carrie Ann Moss, who are re-enacting their roles as Neo and Trinity, respectively, at the 2021 Games Awards. But while the trailer shows a motion-filled chase film, it reveals little about the plot itself.
So what are The Matrix Awakens? Read on for all the information we can find below, including the date of its release.
What is The Matrix Awakens?
The Matrix Awakens' official description says it is a "free, cinematic, cross-border technical presentation" that will provide "a glimpse into the future of interactive storytelling and the entertainment world."
Created by Unreal Engine 5 as a collaboration between Epic Games, Warner Bros., Lana Wachowski, and other members of The Matrix series industry team, this is an amazing example of how realistic game graphics are.
Matrix Awakens includes Keanu Reeves and Carrie Ann Moss, who are supposed to re-enact their roles as the usual New and Trinity from Matrix films.
Is The Matrix Awakens a game?
No, The Matrix Awakens is not a game. At least not in the traditional sense. Instead, it's an illustration that showcases the power of next-generation control platforms to produce semi-realistic graphics.
While The Matrix Awakens isn't a complete video game, the technology demo images are very impressive.
An official trailer released December 6th revealed that the demo shows what matrix video games can look like in the future and offers "a glimpse into the future of interactive storytelling and entertainment with UE5 in this realistic and free cinematic technology."
The Matrix Awakens is now available on both Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.
The release date of the demo was December 9, 2021, with the official description inviting players to join The Game Awards on that date, "The Date of The Experience Disclosure."
An official trailer for The Matrix Awakens has been shared, showing Keanu reeves digital, which looks perfectly vibrant.
Reeves like Neo asks the viewer, "How do we know what's real?" and that's a totally scary idea when you think that the matrix hypothesis is that we all live unscientific in computer simulations.

The new footage, which debuted in The Game Awards 2021, revealed matrix Awakens is an interactive experience open to the world that allows players to explore Matrix. See below:
How to download The Matrix Awakens
If you want to check out The Matrix Awakens, it's available for download now from the Xbox Store or PlayStation Store. But remember that they will only be operable on next-generation control platforms.
You're bad luck if you're hoping to check out The Matrix Awakens on an old control platform or computer. To our knowledge, there will be no way to try The Matrix Awakens on your PC, PS4, or Xbox One. For those of us lucky enough to own a PS5, Xbox Series X, or Xbox Series S, though, tonight should be a fun night!
